Doing "What affects the freezing rate of water".

Equipment:
Plastic cups
Water
Freezer
Equal amounts of soil, salt, staples, sugar, etc.
Alarm

Repeat experiment every Saturday to ensure accurate results.

Independent Variables
  • the materials placed into the water
Dependent Variables
  • the freezing rate
Controlled Variables
  • all cups are placed closely together in the freezer.
  • the amount of water is equal.
  • the amount of soil\salt\sugar\etc is equal.
  • temperature of the freezer.
  • the 30 minute time span before re-checking the cups.

Description of "What affects the freezing rate of water"

Different substances have effects on the freezing rate of water through making the water more dense when the substances are added.

I'll prepare all the materials and equipment first which includes plastic cups, equal amounts of water, equal amounts of substances (soil, salt, sugar, etc) and some space in the freezer. After preparing five cups, four will have substances whereas one will just be filled with water.
Then I'll place the cups in the freezer and check on them in 30 minute intervals and record any changes. I'll repeat this every Saturday because I'm usually free and I might change the set temperature of the freezer each week, it could come up with some different results every week. (:
I guess I'll need an alarm to remind myself every 30 minutes or so. Heh.

Ideas: 01

After being deep in thought of what sort experiment I should do, I’ve come up with a few ideas. I’ll list them here:

  • How the weather may affect the quality of certain cloths.
  • How different genres of music may affect the rate of our heart
  • Types of dyes in different skittles and M&Ms

Those three are what I’ve thought of so far, though I might need to prepare special equipment for the second suggestion. If I manage to think of any other ideas I’ll be back and posting them. (:
